About the Day of Nonviolence

The International Day of Non-Violence is celebrated every year on 2 October, the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, leader of India's independence movement and a global symbol of peaceful resistance.
The day was proclaimed by the United Nations in 2007 to inspire communities around the world to build peace through peaceful means and a culture of dialogue.

Marshall Rosenberg (1934–2015), born on 6 October, was an American psychologist and the founder of Nonviolent Communication, who turned nonviolence into an accessible practice for relationships based on empathy and authenticity.
The connection with Gandhi is one of inspiration. Rosenberg took the principle of nonviolence as a way of life and turned it into a practical language for everyday conversations.

On 21 October, from 19:00, we celebrate Empathic Listening Day with a 90-minute interactive workshop at EMpaTea House. We will explore how empathic listening helps us in important relationships and practise it together. We look forward to seeing you from 18:45.
Participation is free, with limited places. Sign up here. The workshop is organised by Lăcrămioara Ocunschi.

Free workshop: Discover Nonviolent Communication – a workshop for beginners
We invite you to mark the International Day of Non-Violence alongside people who live and cultivate the principles of nonviolence and the celebration of life.
Nonviolence does not mean the absence of conflict, nor passivity or non-involvement (as Gandhi showed us). It involves replacing automatic reactions — fight or flight — with conscious responses anchored in the real needs of the present.

The experience was far more wonderful than I had already sensed. Congratulations and thank you for creating a space (for free!) for planting essential notions and ideas for living the present to the full, which lay the foundations for an optimistic future.
