ABOUT

About

Monica Reu is the president of the Association for Nonviolent Communication, which she founded in 2007. In 2009 she became the first Romanian trainer certified by the Center for Nonviolent Communication.

She is an ANC-accredited trainer and has been organising and leading Nonviolent Communication workshops since 2004, sharing the method in:

  • open courses;
  • practice groups;
  • family camps;
  • schools;
  • institutions.

Her passion is supporting couples and parents in implementing this model of communication in everyday life.

NVC journey

My encounter with NVC took place in 2003, when I was writing for Cosmopolitan magazine and went on a team-building event facilitated by a trainer from France. Those days were a succession of revelations: I had opened the chest of feelings and needs that I didn't even know I had inside me, and there was no turning back.

I started translating Marshall's book, working as an interpreter in workshops for certified trainers I invited to Romania, attending trainings organised in neighbouring countries — I had found my path.

Nonviolent Communication brought Ian, my husband, into my life; it is the foundation of my relationship with my daughter, Emma; and it became my profession in 2009, when I became a certified trainer.

I am honoured to say that I met Marshall Rosenberg, did an IIT with him and then accompanied him on his only visit to Romania.

For years I ran courses for parents and teachers – that's actually how I met some of you. Today, I work with Ian with couples – in our intensive six-month programme and in counselling and mediation sessions –, I offer coaching sessions and I mentor future Nonviolent Communication trainers. ACNV is the heart project I started in 2006 and whose growth I have been constantly contributing to ever since.

How she works

Mona works with individuals, couples, parents and NVC facilitators, supporting them in integrating Nonviolent Communication into everyday life. Her approach combines empathy, relational clarity and a focus on inner resources, in workshops and group programmes as well as in individual sessions, couples counselling and mentoring.

“I discovered NVC in 2003. Since then, I don't think there has been any area of my life that it hasn't touched and transformed in miraculous ways.”
